You Don't Have to Lose a White Smile to Get a Filling

Tooth decay is serious business. When a cavity forms in a tooth, it must be treated right away. Cavities can be painful, and if they are not filled, the decay will spread and further damage your tooth. Dr. Layton uses composite, tooth-colored fillings to restore health and integrity to teeth compromised by decay.

Before placing your filling, Dr. Layton will make sure you are completely comfortable. We use The Wand anesthesia delivery, and nitrous as needed, to maintain patient comfort during clinical procedures. Instead of a dental drill, Dr. Layton will gently remove decay with air abrasion. This technique creates less heat and vibration, which is the source of discomfort associated with the traditional drill.

After the decay is removed, Dr. Layton will tint a bit of composite resin to match your tooth, then place it inside the cavity. He will then harden the filling with a soft curing light. This takes only a few moments. After shaping and polishing the filling, you'll be on your way.
